A 20-year-old man was sentenced to 75 years in prison in the 2023 shooting death of a teen in Arlington, prosecutors said.
Jurors found Taymour Makarem guilty of murder in the killing of 17-year-old Brad Gruver, Tarrant County Criminal District Attorney’s Office said in a social media post on Friday.

In July 2023, Arlington police officers responded to a shooting about 8:30 p.m. at a QuikTrip station in the 4900 block of Little Road, the Star-Telegram previously reported.
When officers arrived they found Gruver with multiple gunshot wounds inside a car parked near a gas pump, police have said. Gruver was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators, who spoke to witnesses and reviewed surveillance video, determined that Gruver and Makarem got into an argument, during which Makarem pulled out a gun and fired multiple rounds into the homicide victim’s car, according to police.
Three other people who were in the car with Gruver were not injured, Star-Telegram reported.
According to police, Makarem and Gruver knew each other and had been feuding for some time.
Makarem ran from the QT station near Interstate 20 and U.S. 287 after the shooting and was found at the intersection of Treepoint Drive and Paces Trail, police have said.
During his arrest, Makarem hid his gun and lied about being at the gas station, according to the DA’s office.
