The Philadelphia Eagles entered the NFL offseason with a decision needing to be made about the future of veteran fan favorite tight end Dallas Goedert.
After pushing back the decision date twice, the Eagles have finally made their decision.
According to a report from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter, Philadelphia has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with Geodert. He will be back for at least one more season with the team.
“Sources: Tight end Dallas Goedert reached agreement today on a one-year deal to return to the Eagles for his ninth season in Philadelphia,” Schefter wrote on X.
All offseason long, the expectation has been that the Eagles would re-sign Goedert. Now, the move has been made official.
Eagles Received Great Production from Dallas Goedert Last Year
Even at 31 years old, Goedert has remained a highly productive player for Philadelphia. Last season, the veteran tight end played in 15 games. He caught 60 passes for 591 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Over the years, Goedert has been an elite security blanket for his quarterback. Jalen Hurts has had a lot of success when targeting him.
Not only is the tight end a quality impact player on the field, he’s also a leader. Goedert is the kind of locker room presence that every Super Bowl contender needs to have. Keeping him in town was very important this offseason.
It’s just a one-year deal, which could make the 2026 campaign Goedert’s last with the Eagles. Whether it is or isn’t, fans will be ecstatic to hear that he is returning for at least one more run.
What Else Has Philadelphia Done This Offseason?
The headline move of the offseason thus far has been the signing of cornerback Riq Woolen. He was given a one-year deal by Philadelphia worth up to $15 million.
Outside of that move, the Eagles have re-signed punter Braden Mann to a four-year deal, signed tight end Johnny Mundt, re-signed tight end Grant Calcaterra, signed cornerback Jonathan Jones, and signed linebacker Arnold Ebiketie.
Howie Roseman has yet to make a blockbuster move this offseason. A.J. Brown also remains on the roster at this point in time.
It will be interesting to see what the rest of the offseason has in store for Philadelphia. Brown could still be moved, which could trigger other decision for the Eagles.
Whether or not they’re done in NFL free agency remains to be seen. However, the 2026 NFL Draft will also offer Philadelphia a chance to improve the roster.
Expect to hear more rumors and speculation come out about the Eagles in the near future. For now, fans can celebrate the return of Goedert for the 2026 campaign.
