AUSTIN, Texas — Austin-Bergstrom International Airport is on pace to set a record for its single busiest spring travel day ever Monday, with roughly 38,000 passengers expected to depart.

The milestone caps a four-day stretch of elevated travel volume at the airport, which saw long TSA and bag check lines for three consecutive days over the weekend.

Airport officials said the morning security rush subsided by around 7:30 a.m. Monday and travelers should expect normal wait times for the remainder of the day.

The airport urges passengers to arrive at least 2.5 hours before domestic departures.

Monday’s projected total falls well short of Austin-Bergstrom’s all-time single-day departure record of 45,048 passengers, though officials described the volume as exceptional for a spring Monday.

The busy travel period is expected to extend into Tuesday, when approximately 32,000 passengers are forecast to depart. Officials say that’s above average for a Tuesday, though not at record levels.

Austin-Bergstrom has been managing the surge amid a partial federal government shutdown, which officials warned could contribute to unanticipated delays. Passengers were advised to monitor flight status and check with their airlines for updates.
