SAN ANTONIO – Students remain safe on campus at Francis Scobee Middle School after a power outage Monday morning, according to Southwest Independent School District officials.
School officials said parents were first notified of the outage through a text message around 9 a.m., followed by a second update sent by text and posted on social media around 9:45 a.m.
The campus is currently without electricity, and district staff are working with CPS Energy to restore power as quickly as possible.
Despite the outage, students remain on campus and are not being transported to another school at this time. Officials said all students have been gathered in the cafeteria and gym while the situation is monitored.
Lunch service is expected to continue as scheduled.
District officials said the outage initially began as a partial interruption. School staff had prepared to move students to another area of the building that still had power, but the situation later developed into a full campus outage.
Parents who wish to pick up their children may do so by signing them out at the front office. However, campus phones are currently not working due to the outage.
Officials say they will continue providing updates as more information becomes available.
