Travis County Sheriff’s Office officials are investigating after an adult male was fatally shot at an apartment on McKinney Falls Parkway Sunday night.

Officers responded to a 911 call at 8:51 p.m. from a woman reporting that a resident of her apartment on the 7000 block of McKinney Falls Parkway had been shot, according to a Monday press release.

Upon arrival at the scene, deputies found a man in his 40s with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 9:29 p.m. after officers attempted lifesaving measures, officials said.

The suspect, who fled the scene, was later arrested and identified by authorities as Isaiah Dominick Esquivel, a 23-year-old Austin resident. He was booked into the Travis County Jail on a murder charge.

Officials said early information in the investigation indicates Esquivel and the apartment’s residents knew each other, and there is no threat to the public.

County officials did not release the identity of the victim.
