The driver of the ATV sustained serious injuries as a result of the crash, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

“This incident serves as an important reminder to always operate ATVs safely and wear proper protective equipment, including a helmet and other safety gear. ATVs are not allowed on public roadways and operating them on the street is against the law,” El Paso County Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said in the social media post.

Additionally, Ugarte said that deputies remain committed to keeping the community safe and encourage the public to follow the law and prioritize safety when operating off-road vehicles.
