Spring break does not have to mean expensive trips or big travel plans. If you’re staying in Lubbock this year, there are actually plenty of fun things you can do around town without spending a dime. From outdoor adventures to museums and wildlife, here are some of the best free activities in Lubbock for spring break.
Tour the National Ranching Heritage Center
The National Ranching Heritage Center is one of the most interesting museums in the region, and admission is completely free. Located on the Texas Tech campus, the 27-acre outdoor museum features dozens of historic ranch buildings dating from the 1700s through the 1950s. Visitors can walk through or near preserved houses, a train depot, a 6666 barn, and even a small church, while learning about the history of ranching in the American West. I love literally walking through history, and sometimes you can spot wildlife. It is a great educational stop for families, students, or anyone interested in Texas history. And right next door, you can…
Check Out The Museum at Texas Tech University

Right now, you can check out short-term exhibitions, including: Phytosaurs, Minerals: Treasures of the Earth, Land Arts of the American West, Dressing the Abbey (costumes from the TV show!), and StitchPunk.
