EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — Two people were arrested after deputies said a group armed with baseball bats and a tire iron forced their way into a home in El Paso County and assaulted a man while demanding money.

Last Friday, deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to the 1300 block of Four-Wheel Drive in El Paso County in reference to an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in progress.

Investigators said several individuals arrived at the residence armed with baseball bats and a tire iron.

Deputies said two suspects forced their way into the home, assaulted the victim while demanding money, and struck the front door and windows with the bats before fleeing in two vehicles.

The male victim was injured and taken to a local hospital for treatment.

During the investigation, deputies located one of the suspected vehicles near an apartment complex in the 1200 block of Berrendo Drive and detained four individuals believed to be involved.

Detectives later determined two of those individuals were responsible for the offense, according to the sheriff’s office.

Magali Reyes, 35, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief ($100-$750), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary of habitation with intent to commit other felony.

Her total bond was set at $41,000.

Kevin Eduardo Varela, 18, was arrested and charged with criminal mischief ($100-$750), aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and burglary of habitation with intent to commit other felony.

His total bond was set at $36,000.
