The Public Works Engineering Operation Division has completed the 2022 Residential Rebuild Phase II project. This $6.27 million-dollar reconstruction project has improved the roadway conditions, water and sewer systems, streetlights, and sidewalk improvements. The three locations completed are Crooked Creek Lane (Ballpark Way to Creek Wood Drive), Crooked Creek Lane (Forest Edge Drive to Cambridge Drive), Skylark Drive (Mitchell Street to Browning Drive).
Construction of this project began in May 2024 and was completed in October 2025.
The 2022 Residential Rebuild Phase II streets were designed to enhance residents’ overall quality of life while reflecting City Council’s philosophy of prioritizing the most deteriorated streets first. This project supports the Arlington City Council priorities of Strengthening Our Community and Enhancing Mobility and was included in the $10.3 million allocation for the 2022 Capital Improvement Projects under the Residential Rebuild Program. Funding for these improvements was provided through the voter-approved 2018 Bond Election.
The work completed involved the full reconstruction of Crooked Creek Lane (Ballpark Way to Creek Wood Drive), Creek Wood Drive (Crooked Creek Lane to dead end), Lynnwood Drive (Forest Edge Drive to Cambridge Drive), and Skylark Drive (Mitchell Street to Browning Drive) to address severe pavement deterioration and outdated infrastructure. The project included replacing existing pavement with new concrete surfaces, renewing underground water and sewer lines, upgrading storm drainage systems, and installing new sidewalks, pavement markings, and streetlights. These improvements modernized the roadway network, enhanced safety and accessibility for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers, and improved the neighborhood’s overall reliability, appearance, and livability.
During fiscal year 2025, Arlington has invested more than $20 million on the Roadway Rebuild Capital Improvements Program, which includes Residential Rebuilds, and Roadway Reconstruction
