Residents continue to call on HPD to be more proactive in getting a handle on the random gunfire.
HOUSTON, Texas — We returned to the Country Club Estates neighborhood in Sharpstown after more random gunfire was captured on camera this past weekend.
The incident occurred around 9 p.m. Saturday, when someone reportedly exited a small SUV along Gulfton Street, fired multiple shots, and then got back in the vehicle before it drove off.
On Monday afternoon, KHOU 11 found several shell casings still on the ground that may be connected to the shooting.
A nearby homeowner expressed ongoing frustration with not only the repeated gunfire but also the Houston Police Department’s response.
🔊 Sound on 🔊 It’s happened again. Random gunfire caught on camera in a Sharpstown neighborhood plagued by this issue. I’ve done numerous stories over the last year. What residents and HPD are saying now on @KHOU. Background: https://t.co/vRNrecaT9Q #khou11 pic.twitter.com/otDib21vyv

While patrols in the area have increased, neighbors say officers do not always respond to every call or take reports for each incident.
The shootings appear to involve different suspects, and the gunfire has been captured on camera both day and night, as KHOU 11 has reported since early 2025.
In the most recent case, it took officers a couple of hours to arrive, and no report was officially filed because there was no complainant on scene. Authorities note that the discharge of a firearm is considered a lower-priority call.
Still, residents say they are fed up and want action. Some have reached out to other agencies in hopes of relief.
As for a possible motive, it has been suggested that gang members may be “testing out” stolen firearms or engaging in similar activity.
