SAN ANTONIO — Gunfire erupted after an argument along White Cloud Street near Callaghan early Sunday morning, leaving a 17-year-old woman dead, a 22-year-old man critically wounded and neighbors shaken.

Nearby surveillance and doorbell video captured the sound of several shots, followed by a car speeding away from the scene.

Authorities have not released the name of the teen who was killed. However, a co-worker said her name was “Josielynn.” The co-worker said they had worked with her at a nearby Jack in the Box for the past several months.

Co-workers also said the teen’s birthday was next month and that she had dreams of becoming an X-ray technician after graduating later this year.

A neighbor whose doorbell camera recorded the shooting said he tried to check on the wounded man. “Tried to see if he was aware. I asked him something like, are you okay? Can you hear me? Are you responsive? And then he didn’t answer, of course. Then that’s when I noticed the girl,” he said.

Another neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, said people living along White Cloud Street are traumatized by what happened and believe the suspect is someone who grew up in the neighborhood.

“It is a little unnerving, but we do hope that they’ll be caught and brought to justice,” the neighbor said.

The neighbor also said residents have seen the victims and the suspect in the area before. “We would see people in and out. We have seen the victims a few times here and there. Certainly, we’ve seen the suspect grow up there,” the neighbor said.

A woman answered the door at the home where the shooting happened, but she did not want to talk and said she was scared.
