COPPERAS COVE, Texas (KWTX) – A handful of young adults from Central Texas were injured in a shooting over the weekend in Port Aransas.
A San Antonio teen is behind bars after authorities say he sent gun shots into a crowd of people on the beach in Port Aransas.
“We had four family members and one family friend that were injured in this shooting,” says Stacy Ross, a family member to the victims.
All five victims are homegrown Central Texans, ranging in age 20-30, calling Lampasas or Copperas Cove home.
Ross says they never expected their annual family vacation to end like this.
“There’s no words to describe the fear of what you’re about to walk into,” Ross tells KWTX.
Since then, they are now taking up a temporary residency in Port Aransas while everyone tries to recover, a journey that could take weeks for some of the victims.
“We have two family members still in the ICU. One family member is no longer in the ICU and the other two were released,” Ross explains.
There is a GoFundMe to help the family with hotel stays, food and hospital bills for the time being.
The 17-year-old accused of being responsible for this is facing aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charges and three others were put in custody for questioning.
