A man in his 40s was shot and killed in a residence on McKinney Falls Parkway, according to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office.

AUSTIN, Texas — An investigation is underway after a deadly shooting Sunday night in southeast Austin. 

According to the Travis County Sheriff’s Office (TCSO), a man in his 40s was shot and killed at a home on McKinney Falls Parkway. 

Law enforcement said they received a call shortly after 8:50 p.m. Sunday from a woman who said a neighbor was shot. 

Once on scene, the TCSO found a man who was shot and injured. They tried to provide medical assistance, but the man was pronounced dead at 9:29 p.m. Sunday. His identity has not yet been shared with the public. 

The TCSO said the shooting suspect initially left the scene but has since been identified as 23-year-old Austin resident Isaiah Dominick Esquivel. He was subsequently charged with murder and placed in the Travis County Jail.  

Responders believe Esquivel knew the residence of the apartment but their exact relation is currently unclear.
