TRAVIS COUNTY, Texas — A 23-year-old Austin man has been charged with murder after a fatal shooting at an apartment on McKinney Falls Parkway late Sunday night, the Travis County Sheriff’s Office said.

Isaiah Dominick Esquivel was booked into the Travis County Jail after deputies located him shortly after the shooting. He was taken into custody without incident.

Deputies responded to the 7000 block of McKinney Falls Parkway at 8:51 p.m. March 15 after a woman called 911 to report that a resident of her apartment had been shot. They arrived to find a man in his 40s with a gunshot wound.

Lifesaving measures were unsuccessful, and the man was pronounced dead at 9:29 p.m.

Esquivel fled the scene before deputies arrived, investigators said. The sheriff’s office said the suspect and the apartment’s residents knew each other and there is no threat to the public.

The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
