It was a chilly, windy, packed free concert that featured many parked model cars.

And Schultz was toasting the friends his band made along the way onstage. And that fateful SXSW in 2012, he said, when the Colorado band gigged all over Austin. And then blew up.

That year’s “Hey Ho” became a rom-com staple. They’d play it twice during concerts, having, apparently, not a ton of other material with which to soothe arenas.

Then Schultz doused us in confetti and walked around the crowd — Bono-style. He’s a pro who has earned his stripes.

The Lumineers believe wholly in their clean, Whole Foods electric-folk. And it’s so comically self-serious that their own fans get that this isn’t cool. That it’s so earnest you wince a little. Like when they throw tambourines to each other.

“Go Lumineers!” a rando yelled with comedic irony at the top of his lungs between songs. We all laughed.

“We welcome those that are a little tough around the edges,” Shultz said. “Because those are the people that will tell you the truth.”

OK, so honestly, your man’s fedora is too much for me.
