DALLAS, Texas (KLTV) – The identity of a suspect who was shot and killed during a standoff with Dallas police SWAT officers is now revealed as a security guard for U.S. representative Jasmine Crockett (D-Dallas) under a fake alias.
39-year-old Damion-Mazairre Robinson went by the fake identity “Mike King” for several years. Robinson has a criminal history, including several arrests between 2009 and 2017. He also has two active felony theft warrants in 2017, multiple stolen firearms, and two vehicles with stolen government plates. Robinson used his fraudulent identity “Mike King” to pose as a federal officer, working his way up to becoming security personnel for Rep. Crockett while running a business that hired real police officers to work off-duty security jobs.
Robinson’s real identity was exposed after a Dallas officer who was working with Robinson on a security job saw a bulletin from Irving police, detailing a vehicle with stolen government plates. That led to the search for Robinson.
On March 11, Dallas police department officers spotted Robinson driving an acquaintance’s car and attempted to stop the vehicle. After briefly escaping police in the vehicle, officers found him in the parking garage of a hospital. In body camera footage released by Dallas Police Department, An hour-long negotiation took place before Robinson stepped out of the vehicle, reached behind his back, pulled out of a stolen handgun and aimed it at officers. Officers are heard saying “don’t reach” and “don’t do it” before he pointed the handgun. He was shot and killed by police on scene.
The full extent of Robinson’s security work is under investigation. However, video filmed by KLTV from February shows Robinson working as a security detail for Rep. Crockett during her visit to Tyler.
In a statement from Rep. Crockett, she said that her team “followed all protocols outlined by the House to contract additional security,” and that it’s concerning that he was able to “circumvent the vetting processes for something as sensitive as security for members of Congress.” She adds that “the man that we knew as Mike King” was “in and around our team for years.”
