LPD warns residents of municipal court texting scam claiming unpaid citations

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Police Department is warning residents about a texting scam claiming to be from the municipal court regarding unpaid citations.

The fraudulent messages threaten fines, arrest warrants, license suspension and other legal consequences if recipients do not pay immediately.

LPD wants to remind the public that the City of Lubbock Municipal Court does not send text messages regarding citations. Anyone who receives one of these messages should not click any links or provide payment information.

If someone does have a question about citations, they can call the Municipal Court directly at (806) 775-2473.
