Lanes on State Highway 114 in Irving reopened late Monday night after several were closed for hours due to police and fire department activity.

An “isolated incident” closed all eastbound and westbound lanes between Tom Braniff Drive and Spur 482, according to a statement from police.

Video from Texas Department of Transportation traffic cameras Monday night showed police vehicles blocking off westbound lanes and fire engines in the eastbound lanes.

Police said they received a call around 4:20 p.m. from a family concerned that a loved one they could not locate might be experiencing a “mental health crisis.”

Officers located the person on the service road of Loop 12 and SH 114, set up a perimeter and requested specialized units to respond, the statement said.

After negotiations ended around 12:50 a.m., the person was safely detained and taken to a local hospital.
