The Dallas Zoo is offering its annual opportunity for its visitors to donate their used electronics to prevent the destruction of gorillas’ habitats.
DALLAS — The Dallas Zoo is asking visitors to donate their old electronics to prevent the destruction of gorilla habitats.
From Feb. 1 through Sept. 1, 2026, the Dallas Zoo will collect electronics to support Gorillas on the Line, a global campaign that protects endangered gorillas and their habitats, the zoo said in a press release.
Bins to recycle unwanted small electronics will be placed around the zoo, the release states.
Gorillas on the Line, organized by Gorilla SAFE, will partner with Eco-Cell, an electronics recycling organization. The initiative raises money for gorilla conservation while reducing demand for new materials, which threatens gorilla habitats.
The Dallas Zoo hopes to collect more than 500 devices in 2026.
“Our gorilla troop helps connect guests to the challenges facing gorillas in the wild,” said Chris Corpus, Dallas Zoo’s senior director of conservation and community Impact. “By recycling an old device, anyone can take a simple, meaningful action that supports conservation efforts across the globe.”
The Dallas Zoo will accept:
