After a crash and break-in, a Lewisville seafood restaurant faces setbacks. The owner pushes forward as customers step in to show support.

LEWISVILLE, Texas — What started as a simple craving for crawfish turned into a show of support for a local business that’s had a rough few weeks.

“I just can’t wait to get hold of these crawfish,” said customer Mike Honea, who stopped by Quickie Crab for a meal.

The family-owned seafood restaurant in Lewisville has endured a difficult stretch in recent weeks.

Its front windows are now boarded up after a car crashed into the building, forcing the restaurant to close for five days. Owner Blain Bastow said the crash happened suddenly. He was sitting near the front when he heard the tires screech before the impact into his store. Surveillance footage shows Bastow immediately checking on customers and the driver.

“Are you okay?” Bastow is heard asking in surveillance video. No one was hurt.

“It’s going to be a while till everything gets repaired. We got to go through insurance and that kind of stuff,” Bastow said.

Just a week after reopening, the restaurant was hit again.

Lewisville police say two men broke in using a crowbar and a sledgehammer early Monday morning, stealing hundreds of dollars, along with keys and debit cards.

“It makes you very angry when somebody takes advantage of that,” Bastow said. “Times are tough for everybody. But taking shortcuts at the expense of somebody else is just not acceptable.”

Bastow is now offering a $500 reward for information leading to an arrest.

“It’s been rough the last couple of weeks,” he said. “But I hear things happen in threes, so hopefully we’re good to go.”

Despite the setbacks, customers like Honea say they’re showing up with purpose.

“I want to support them and make sure that they’re still here when I’m hungry,” he said.

For Bastow, that support is a turning point after a difficult run — and a reminder that the community is standing behind him.
