EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Turning 100 is a milestone few reach, and Patricia Cortinas marked it surrounded by family and friends at the Bienvivir Senior Health Center on Tuesday.
Family members, staff, and other participants gathered to celebrate Cortinas in Saint Patrick’s Day style, with music, food, and festivities to celebrate Cortinas’ birthday.
During the celebration on Tuesday, Cortinas was seen blowing out her candles while live music was performed by Julia Martinez.
Cortinas’ granddaughters described her as the heart of their family.
“She’s been the core of our family, which is just growing smaller and smaller over the years,” said Lauren Cisneros, Cortinas’ granddaughter. “I just want to say I love her so much.”
Virginia Cisneros, another granddaughter, said, “She’s just a very special woman, she’s a very strong woman.” She added, “And to us it means everything, looking forward to today and celebrating her life.”
Cortinas’ granddaughters also said they are happy that Bienvivir has taken such good care of their grandmother.
