EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — El Paso native and co-founder of At the Drive-In and front man of Sparta, Jim Ward, is calling out the Border Patrol after the agency used his music in a “border wall propaganda” social media post.

On Monday, Ward took to social media to write:

I’m not going to repost it or give it any attention but please know we are aware of our song being used in a border wall propaganda video and are working on having it removed. You absolutely know we are appalled.

Even though Ward does not explicitly reference which social media post, this comes after the U.S. Border Patrol El Paso Sector posted a video showing controlled explosions destroying areas around Mount Cristo Rey in Sunland Park, with Sparta’s “Air” song, from their album Wiretap Scars, playing in the background.

In the post, the chief said the blasts are being used to clear the way for vital infrastructure and to strengthen homeland security.

It is unclear how the song in the video is licensed to be used on the platform and if Border Patrol has authorization to use it.
