It’s about time to make that call. That’s right, if you’ve ever craved Texas barbecue with a heavy dose of 80s nostalgia, this weekend is the perfect time to satisfy those cravings.
Ernie Hudson, the beloved actor who played Winston Zeddemore in the Ghostbusters franchise – and starred in films from The Crow to Miss Congeniality – will be in San Antonio this weekend to support a good cause. Hudson will be visiting two Rudy’s Country Store and Bar-B-Q restaurants and two Pet Supplies Plus locations in support of the Puppy Food Bank.
On Saturday, March 21, Hudson will first visit the Rudy’s BBQ in Leon Springs at 24152 I-10, San Antonio, TX 78257, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. before visiting the Pet Supplies Plus at 22103 Bulverde Road, Suite 116, San Antonio, TX 78259, from 3 to 5 p.m. for an adoption event.
Sunday, March 22, will see Hudson visit the Westover Hills Rudy’s at 10623 Westover Hills Blvd., San Antonio, TX 78251, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. He will then visit the Pet Supplies Plus in New Braunfels at 2736 Loop 337, Suite 102, New Braunfels, TX 78132, for an adoption event from 3 to 5 p.m.
“Stop by to meet Ernie, adopt a new furry family member, enjoy some delicious BBQ, and make a donation to help us support shelter pets who need it most,” the Puppy Food Bank wrote in its announcement. “Bring your friends, bring your family and help us spread the love for animals in our community.
The Puppy Food Bank added that there is no charge for selfies or autographs with Hudson, but guests can make a donation to the food bank if they wish. Rudy’s shared that anyone who stops by for barbecue and makes a donation to the Puppy Food Bank will receive $15 off their next barbecue visit. But hurry along, the promotion is only good through this weekend.
“Love Ernie Hudson, nicest guy, come see him at Rudy’s and help support pups!” Rudy’s BBQ President Tim Louton wrote in a Facebook post.
The Puppy Food Bank is a virtual food bank “dedicated to providing food supplies to ‘no kill’ pet rescues” across the U.S., according to its Facebook page. In addition to Hudson, the company has also received celebrity support from Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito, who is an acting ambassador for the food bank.
