  • March 18, 2026

Houston police are investigating after a man in his 50s was seriously injured during an attempted robbery in southwest Houston Tuesday night.

Officers with the Houston Police Department responded to reports of a robbery in progress in the 6100 block of Glenmont Drive around 9:45 p.m.

When officers arrived, the victim told police he was walking in the area when a suspect, believed to be in his late teens, around 17 or 18 years old, approached him and demanded his wallet.

Police said when the man refused and tried to walk away, the suspect knocked him to the ground and began kicking him. Investigators say the teen then struck the man multiple times in the head and face with a pistol.

The victim suffered severe injuries and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to survive,

Police said the suspect ran from the scene before getting into a blue Honda Accord that was waiting nearby. Officers do not believe the suspect was able to steal anything.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
