SAN ANTONIO – A 12-year-old boy was killed Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle crash that police say may have involved street racing.
The accident occurred just after 6:30 p.m. on Culebra Road near North Elemendorf Street on the Northwest Side.
Witnesses told police they saw two vehicles – the suspect’s sedan and a black pickup truck – racing before one sedan, driven by a 20-year-old, lost control and spun into oncoming traffic, colliding with the victim’s vehicle.
The boy, a passenger in the suspect’s car, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was hospitalized and could face charges of racing on a highway resulting in death, police said.
A 66-year-old woman in the other vehicle was also taken to a hospital. Her condition has not been released.
The driver of the pickup truck drove off before police arrived.
The investigation is ongoing.
