SELMA, Texas — A man was shot after a standoff that lasted several hours in a Selma neighborhood on Wednesday morning, following reports of gunfire.
Selma Police say they were called around 9:25 a.m. to the 16800 block of Showdown Path in The Retreat at Retama Park Quadplex subdivision. When officers arrived, they could still hear gunshots, and early estimates suggested about 10 to 15 shots had been fired.
Neighbors told police they saw a man in a dark hoodie who later went into a nearby home. Using a helicopter, officers were able to spot someone inside the house who matched that description and appeared to have a gun.
Authorities spent hours trying to get the man to come outside, but he did not respond.
At some point, the situation escalated, and the man was shot. No officers were injured.
