Houston remains under a severe thunderstorm water throughout the day. Although the sun is trying to peak through the clouds, the weather could take a turn again on Saturday.
Following severe weather, early Saturday am with heavy winds and showers, Centerpoint reported 167,000 power outages across the city and in surrounding areas. By 12:15 CST the outages were reduced to just under 27,000 outages.
In the Galleria area, the short storm caused tree debris and signage to block some of the roadways, along with traffic light outages.
Texas Governor Abbott has ordered 1300 Emergency First Responders and Contractors to expedite the power restoration efforts.
Weather forecasters are also watching Tropical Storm Melissa in the Caribbean that is headed for the coast of Jamaica as it gains hurricane level strength. The storm has claimed the lives of 4 people in the region.
