A 60-year-old man has been arrested after authorities say he posed as a licensed attorney and scammed families of inmates in the Tarrant County jail.

The Tarrant County district attorney’s office, working with the Tarrant County sheriff’s office, launched an investigation into Ramond Davis Jr., who is accused of falsely offering legal representation to incarcerated individuals.

Investigators said Davis contacted inmates and arranged meetings with their families, collecting payments of about $3,000 in exchange for legal services he was not licensed to provide.

Authorities determined Davis is not a licensed attorney. An arrest warrant was obtained and executed, and he was taken into custody. The investigation remains ongoing, and multiple charges are pending.
