LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – It’s a humid morning, with fog across parts of West Texas, along with a few isolated showers and thunderstorms.
An upper-level low is over the Texas Panhandle. This is what brought some showers and storms to our area yesterday, and produced widespread thunderstorm coverage across much of the state.
Weather set-up Saturday morning(KCBD)
There was severe weather scattered across the state, as well. Now the widespread rain and storms are across Arkansas and Louisiana. That’s the main show. But wrapping around the back side of this storm system will be a few more isolated showers and storms, as the storm system itself slowly moves east.
A level 2 out of 5 risk for severe weather runs roughly from Waco to Austin down to Victoria and points east toward New Orleans today.
Storm Prediction Center outlook for Saturday, Oct. 25.(KCBD)
Timing
Isolated showers and thunderstorms will move from northwest to southeast today on the South Plains, since we are now on the back side of the low that’s spinning counter-clockwise. Coverage of rain and storms will be fairly spotty. In other words, the chance at any one location in our area is low; but we expect a few showers and thunderstorms to develop within the area today.
The chance for a shower or storm will decrease through the afternoon. Here is one computer’s projection:
