CALHOUN COUNTY, Texas – Calhoun County Sheriff Bobbie Vickery has identified the fisherman whose body was recovered in San Antonio Bay.
Search crews found the body of Mark Matthew Malik, 72, from Shiner, on Thursday near Dagger Point. That’s along the Aransas Wildlife Refuge shoreline.
Texas Game Wardens say Malik was wade fishing in the bay Wednesday, near bouy 7, when his boat drifted away. When he tried to reach it, they say he went underwater and never resurfaced.
A second person was rescued Wednesday and the boat was recovered at the Aransas Wildlife Refuge.
