Several Easter-themed events are planned across the Wylie, Sachse and Murphy areas in the coming weeks, offering families a variety of opportunities to celebrate the season with egg hunts, activities and community gatherings.
Sachse will kick off the festivities Saturday, March 28, with a full day of Easter activities hosted by the city’s parks department. The Easter Egg Scramble begins at 10 a.m. at Heritage Park for children ages 2 to 10, where youngsters will search for candy-filled eggs and special prize eggs in three age divisions: ages 2 to 4, 5 to 7 and 8 to 10. Later in the day, the EGG-cessible Egg Hunt will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Michael J. Felix Community Center, offering an inclusive hunt for individuals with mental or physical disabilities and featuring sensory prizes, beeping eggs and other accessible activities. That evening, the Doggie Bone Hunt begins at 7 p.m. at Heritage Park, inviting residents to bring their leashed canine companions to search for treats and compete in contests such as best dressed or cutest dog. The day concludes with the Flashlight Egg Hunt at 8:30 p.m. at Heritage Park for children ages 5 to 13, who will use flashlights to search the park for candy-filled eggs and a prized golden egg.
Pet lovers will also find a special Easter-themed activity Saturday, March 28, at Oak Point Nature Preserve in Plano. The Easter Egg Hound Hunt invites dog owners to bring their four-legged companions to sniff out treat-filled Easter eggs during the spring event. Registration is required, and participants must always keep dogs on non-retractable leashes no longer than six feet and under control. Proof of a current rabies tag is required. The registration fee is $5 per dog, owners must be at least 16 years old and each participant may bring a maximum of two dogs. The event will be held at Oak Point Nature Preserve, 5901 Los Rios Blvd. in Plano.
The following week, Garland will host its Trunk-N-Hunt event Wednesday, April 1, at the Carter Softball Complex at Audubon Park, 550 W. Oates Road. The event offers an egg hunt with a twist as children travel from car to car collecting candy and eggs, similar to a trunk-or-treat event. Families can also enjoy bounce houses, games, food trucks and an Easter Bunny selfie station.
Murphy’s annual Hop N’ Hunt is scheduled for Thursday, April 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Murphy Central Park. Organized in partnership with First Baptist Church Murphy and local sponsors, the event will feature more than 15,000 eggs. Children’s hunt times are scheduled by age group, with the hunt for children under 5 beginning at 7 p.m., ages 5 to 9 at 7:30 p.m. and ages 10 to 15 at 8 p.m. An egg pool will also be available for children under 2. Adult hunts are planned as well, including a hunt for ages 45 and older at 7 p.m. and another for ages 16 and older at 8:30 p.m., where participants are encouraged to bring a flashlight. Activities throughout the evening will include photos with the Easter Bunny, a petting zoo, face painting, a paint-a-pot activity benefiting the Murphy Chamber Scholarship Foundation and several food trucks.
Also on Saturday, April 4, In-Sync Exotics Wildlife Rescue and Educational Center will host its Easter Egg Hunt from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the sanctuary located at 3430 Skyview Drive in Wylie. The event will feature egg hunts, games and family activities, along with the opportunity to visit the facility’s rescued lions and tigers during a special spring celebration.
