As New Braunfels continues to sharpen its rep as a dining destination, one of the San Antonio bedroom community’s most recognizable concepts is making a move southward.

Burger-and-beer spot Muck & Fuss will make its Alamo City debut this fall, according to its owners. The $4.5 million location will be situated at 2422 N. Loop 1604 West near Rogers Ranch and the Bitters Road intersection with construction wrapping up around Sept. 15.

“New Braunfels is just a short drive away, and bringing Muck & Fuss to the San Antonio market has always been a dream of ours,” owner Terry Muckenfuss said in an emailed statement. “San Antonio is a city rooted in family and culture, and that’s exactly what we celebrate at Muck & Fuss. We’re excited to share more details as we get closer to announcing the grand opening.”

Muckenfuss and his wife and business partner Celina also operate New Braunfels’ Prince Solms Inn and the hotel’s speakeasy concept Sidecar. The opened Muck & Fuss, a downtown dining fixture, in 2019.

The ownership group hasn’t yet provided details on a grand-opening date for the San Antonio restaurant.

Muck & Fuss’ expansion comes as New Braunfels’ dining scene undergoes a noteable evolution. Once defined largely by tourist-driven staples, the city has recently experienced a wave of chef-driven, design-forward concepts including the Old City Hall steakhouse and Wilhelm & Werner at the soon to-be-reopened Faust Hotel. 

Muck & Fuss’ appeal goes beyond burgers — the eatery’s New Braunfels location, situated aptly on San Antonio Street, also has a large selection of specialty fries, sandwiches, tacos, cocktails, cocktails flights and even a menu for dogs who visit with their human companions.  

What’s more, the restaurant features 38 rotating craft beers, including offerings from both Texas breweries and national favorites. Weekly outdoor live music further reinforces its neighborhood-hangout feel.
