The National Weather Service Fort Worth/Dallas is anticipating a weekend of record daily highs in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro.

The NWS Forth Worth/Dallas posted a bulletin about this week’s unseasonably warm conditions on Thursday afternoon. According to the bulletin, there is a high chance of record daily highs being tied or broken at DFW and Waco the next few days.

In the Dallas/Fort Worth area, the forecast predicts a high of 92 degrees on Friday. The current record high for that day is 92 degrees, and there is a 65% chance the record will be tied or broken.

On Sunday, the forecast predicts a high of 98 degrees, and the current record high is 93 degrees. There is a greater than 90% chance that the record will be tied or broken that day.

In Waco, the forecast predicts a high of 90 degrees on Friday and highs of 95 degrees on Saturday and Sunday. All three days there is a greater than 90% chance that the record high will be tied or broken.

Above to well above normal temperatures are expected to continue into next week. Additionally, there will be no precipitation chances until late next week. Sunday will have the highest fire threat, but fire starts remain possible every other day.

Even though these temperatures may not seem extreme, the NWS reminds us that most of our bodies are not acclimated to these temperatures just yet. Our bodies need time to adjust by producing more sweat and properly regulating our body temperature through blood flow.

That’s why it’s important to adjust to the heat slowly by drinking plenty of water, limiting time outside, and wearing light-colored, breathable clothing. If you do need to be outside, make sure to take frequent breaks in the shade.
