FT. WORTH, TX (Dakota News Now) -The South Dakota State Women practiced today in Fort Worth in preparation for tomorrow’s NCAA Tournament game against the Washington Huskies. And the Jacks feel they are ready after their tough non-conference schedule.

THE WASHINGTON HUSKIES PLAY FAST.
THE TEAM IS LED BY A PAIR OF GUARDS IN AVERY HOWELL AND SAYVIA SELLERS WHO SHOOT EFFECIENTLY AND PLAY PHYSICAL ON DEFENSE.
THE JACKRABBITS BELIEVE THAT WHILE THIS MATCHUP WILL BE A CHALLENGE, A KEY TO A WIN WILL BE STAYING TRUE TO THEMSELVES.
Ellie Colbeck: “Play the defense we’ve been practicing all year, not changing anything too dramatically. Obviously, on offense we’re going to look to Brooklyn. She’s kind of our anchor on offense there as well as Maddie’s got a crazy pull up.”
JUST LAST YEAR, SDSU PULLED OFF THE UPSET AGAINST A 7 SEED IN THE TOURNAMENT. SURE, THIS IS A DIFFERENT YEAR AND A DIFFERENT TEAM, BUT THIS TEAM BELIEVES IN THEMSELVES AND BELIEVES IT CAN HAPPEN AGAIN.
Maddie Mathiowetz: “Just knowing that we have beat great teams this year and we’ve competed really well at times, especially towards the end of the season we’ve competed at a really high level. Going into our first couple rounds that’s a good feeling to have.”
THE HUSKIES WERE VERY COMPLIMENTARY OF SDSU, CALLING THEM A DISCIPLINED TEAM AND A PROGRAM THEY HAVE A DEEP RESPECT FOR. THEY’RE NOT TAKING THE JACKRABBITS LIGHTLY AND ARE EXPECTING A “DOGFIGHT”.
