Trevon Diggs won’t be back on the field for the Dallas Cowboys any time soon as the team announced he has been placed on injured reserve.

Diggs has dealt with numerous health issues this season. Most recently, a concussion suffered, during an accident at his home on Oct. 16 caused him to miss last week’s game against Washington.

Diggs is also dealing with knee and hamstring issues. Diggs has undergone knee surgeries the last two years and returned sooner than expected.

Diggs will miss the next four games after being placed on IR. He was placed in concussion protocol on Oct. 17 and must go through all five steps to be cleared.

“He’s had several things going on and that pertains to past injuries,” team co-owner Stephen Jones said Friday on 105.3 The Fan (KRLD-FM). “So there’s things that we’re looking at there. We hadn’t ruled [placing him on IR] out. We’ll look at that [Saturday] as well.”

Diggs is eligible to return on Thanksgiving against the Chiefs, which comes roughly three weeks after the Nov. 4 trade deadline. Players on IR are eligible to be traded.

The team hasn’t said much about how Diggs suffered the injury, but coach Brian Schottenheimer said Diggs can provide more details when he’s ready to do so.

“He’s still in the protocol,” Schottenheimer said. “When you guys get an opportunity to talk to Trevon, you can talk to him. We have more information. I’ll let him when he’s ready and able to talk about it.”

Before Diggs was placed on IR, he was undergoing treatment for his knee.

Aside from placing Diggs on IR, the team also elevated DB Corey Ballantine and RB Malik Davis from the practice squad. Cooper Beebe was ruled out for Sunday’s game after being listed as questionable on Friday’s injury report. Safety Juanyeh Thomas, who was also listed as questionable, is out and will not travel with the team.
