HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — As the partial government shutdown continues, so do long lines at airports like Houston’s Bush Intercontinental Airport.

ABC13’s Chaz Miller has been at Terminal A on Friday morning, where at one point, he says lines started on the level below security.

Travelers have been asked to get to the airport three hours early for domestic flights, and four hours early for international flights.

The Houston Airport System said pre-check is available in Terminals A and C on Friday, with standard screening only in A and E.

Officials say the delays are tied to the partial government shutdown, which they say is putting a major strain on TSA workers who aren’t getting paid.

Earlier this week, TSA reported nearly 40% of employees at IAH called out sick on Wednesday.

With TSA workers not getting paid, some airports across the country have been providing meals to them in conjunction with local food banks. The airport system says that’s being done here as well.

You can check the Houston Airport System website to see current wait times.
