EL PASO, Texas (KFOX14/CBS4) — A 26-year-old man is facing an illegal dumping charge after investigators said he was caught disposing of trash in an area of East El Paso County.

On Feb. 18, deputies with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Sullivan Drive and Cummings Lane after receiving information about a man actively dumping trash there.

Detectives later identified the suspect as Carlos Alberto Gonzalez, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators obtained an arrest warrant for Gonzalez on a charge of Illegal Dumping, and his bond was set at $2,500.

On Friday, Gonzalez turned himself in at the East Montana Patrol Station on the outstanding warrant.

He was then transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility, where he was booked without incident.

“The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office takes illegal dumping seriously and remains committed to protecting the environment and the quality of life in our community,” Sheriff Oscar Ugarte said. “Illegal dumping will not be tolerated, and individuals who violate the law will be held accountable.”
