LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – A traffic stop that turned into a brief pursuit ended with the birth of a child Friday morning.
The incident began at 8:44 a.m. when a vehicle failed to stop for officers. A pursuit started but was canceled at 8:48 a.m. when the driver stopped at Marsha Sharp Freeway and Slide Rd.
The officer realized the passenger in the car was in labor. Lubbock Fire Rescue was called to the scene as a precautionary measure to block traffic and ensure no one got hit.
EMS arrived on scene and delivered the child. All lanes of traffic were opened back up right after 9 a.m.
