LAREDO, Texas – Border agents have seized over $365,000 in hard drugs from a box truck attempting to cross into the United States from Mexico.
On Wednesday, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Agents at the World Trade Bridge referred a 50-year-old Mexican male driving a 2020 Kenworth box truck for further inspection.
Following both a non-intrusive and canine inspection, CBP agents discovered a total of 10 packages containing 23.98 pounds of alleged cocaine and one package containing 2.33 pounds of alleged heroin.
“This significant seizure of cocaine and heroin underscores the dedication and vigilance of our officers at the World Trade Bridge,” said Port Director, Alberto Flores. “Our team remains committed to safeguarding our communities by preventing these dangerous narcotics from entering the United States.”
The seized narcotics combined had a street value of $365,079. The driver was arrested, and the narcotics were seized in connection with the investigation.
