An SUV collided with a Union Pacific train in southern Dallas County, killing the driver, authorities said.

DALLAS COUNTY, Texas — One person was killed Friday afternoon when an SUV collided with a Union Pacific train in the southern portion of Dallas County, officials said.

The crash happened around 12:30 p.m. near Lavender Road and Millers Ferry Road, in between the cities of Wilmer and Ferris. 

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Department said the driver of the SUV was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene. Authorities have not released the person’s identity.

Union Pacific reported that no members of the train crew were injured and that there was no derailment.

Wilmer police and the Dallas County Sheriff’s Department are investigating the incident. Officials are asking the public to avoid the area while the investigation continues.
