A driver was killed Friday afternoon when an SUV collided with a train in southern Dallas County, authorities said.

The crash occurred just after 12:30 p.m. at Lavender Road and Miller Ferry Road, west of Interstate 45, according to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators said the train struck the SUV, ejecting the driver, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities did not say whether the driver was wearing a seatbelt.

Officials said the crash did not cause a derailment.
