History could be made for No. 2 Texas softball when it plays Friday night against Baylor at McCombs Field.

The Longhorns (26-1, 6-0 SEC) are taking a respite from their SEC slate and welcoming the Bears (20-7, 5-1 Big 12) for a weekend series at home. If Texas wins, it will set a program record with 25 straight victories; the record is currently 24 straight wins, set by the 2006 team.

Baylor has two strong pitchers in Cambree Creager and Peyton Tanner who are first and second on the Bears in strikeouts. Creager (7-3) has done most of the heavy-lifting in the circle holding 262 batters over 65⅔ inning to a 2.98 ERA and throwing 48 strikeouts. Tanner (6-2) has tossed just over 45 innings with a 2.78 ERA and 43 strikeouts.
