McKinney Boyd hasn’t had much luck against Plano West recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Broncos will be playing in front of their home fans against the Wolves at 1:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won’t be so lucky on Saturday.
McKinney Boyd is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over Princeton on Thursday. The Broncos haven’t had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
McKinney Boyd got a great performance from Keegan Hines as she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Hines has been consistent recently: she hasn’t given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

McKinney Boyd was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .481. That was just more of the same: they’ve now posted a batting average of .320 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Plano West gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn’t let that get them down. They put the hurt on Prosper with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Wolves have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday’s blowout was nothing new.
Kendall Prowell made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Prowell was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Plano West got a massive performance out of Abby Jennings, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Brooke Reasoner, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
McKinney Boyd’s victory bumped their record up to 7-12. As for Plano West, they now have a winning record of 9-8-1.
Saturday’s game will be a test for both teams’ pitchers. McKinney Boyd hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it’s not like Plano West struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
McKinney Boyd might still be hurting after the 10-0 defeat they got from Plano West in their previous meeting back in February. Will the Broncos have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other softball content.
