Plano West has gone 8-2 against McKinney Boyd recently and they’ll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Wolves will venture away from home to square off against the Broncos at 1:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Plano West gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn’t let that get them down. They put the hurt on Prosper with a sharp 12-2 win. Considering the Wolves have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday’s blowout was nothing new.

Kendall Prowell made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn’t tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter’s box, going 3-for-6 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Abby Jennings was a standout: she went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Whitney Flanigan also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Plano West always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .543. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Prosper only posted an OBP of .258.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McKinney Boyd). They blew past Princeton 15-3 on Thursday. The team’s explosion at the plate also rewarded the Broncos with their most commanding win of the season.
McKinney Boyd also got a great performance from Keegan Hines as she pitched five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits.
At the plate, Leah Teague was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Olivia Locke, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.
Plano West is on a roll lately: they’ve won four of their last five games. That’s provided a massive bump to their 9-8-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for McKinney Boyd, their record is now 7-12.
Saturday’s contest will be a test for both teams’ pitchers. Plano West hasn’t had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it’s not like McKinney Boyd struggles in that department as they’ve averaged .352. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plano West got the ‘W’ in their previous meeting back in February against McKinney Boyd by a conclusive 10-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won’t have the home-field advantage this time around. We’ll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
