Grapevine run rules Argyle behind Luke Esquivel

Luke Esquivel allowed one hit over six innings and fanned 12 as Grapevine defeated Argyle 13-0 in a run-rule shortened District 6-5A game on Friday at Argyle High School.

Lale Esquivel and Jorvorskie Lane, Jr. both homered for Grapevine (17-3 overall, 4-0 district). Lale Esquivel’s solo homer led off the top of sixth inning where the Mustangs scored 5 times.

A pair of walks to Luke Esquivel and Zack Goldstein proceeded Lane’s bomb that made it 6-0 in the second inning. Lane was 2 for 3 at the plate with 3 runs batted in and 3 runs scored.

Nomar Torres was 2 for 4 for Grapevine with a double, 3 RBIs and 2 runs scored. Ryan Calvert picked up the only hit of the game for Argyle (10-6, 2-2).

Keller stays atop 4-6A with win over L.D. Bell

Keller scored runs in all six innings as the Indians routed Hurst L.D. Bell 12-3 in a District 4-6A game on Friday at Keller High School.

Logan Brown, Bodie Davis and Jayden Moeller had 2 hits each for Keller (18-1-2 overall, 4-0 district). Brown hit a 3-run home run in the bottom of the first for a 3-0 lead and tripled to lead off the third inning, scoring on a balk.

Brown and Davis collected 3 RBIs each with Brown scoring 3 times and Moeller crossing home plate twice. Cameron Ireland picked up the win for Keller scattering 4 hits with 1 earned run and 8 strikeouts in 4 innings of work.

Cole McFrazier (2 RBIs) and Diego Guzman had 2 hits each for L.D. Bell (6-12, 1-3).
