A 21-year-old Arlington man has been arrested after he confessed to fatally shooting his grandmother early Friday, police said.
A family member found the 68-year-old victim unresponsive on her apartment patio in the 1800 block of Carriage House Circle. Someone had thrown a blanket over the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene. Paramedics determined she’d been shot, Arlington police said in a news release Saturday.
Detectives learned the victim and her grandson, Rontrell Jackson, had recently gotten into an argument, which led to Jackson losing his allowance. Investigators questioned Jackson, and he admitted to shooting his grandmother early Friday morning and dragging her body out to the patio, police said.
Jackson was arrested on one count of murder and booked into the Arlington City Jail. A gun investigators believe was used in the shooting was found inside the apartment, according to police.
The woman who was killed has not yet been publicly identified by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office.
