Ronnie “Pointy Boots” Mathis, a Corpus Christi celebrity, died March 19 after battling Stage 4 prostate cancer.

Mathis was 70, public records show. He was known for his extravagant fashion style.

People would often see him pedaling his bike along the bayfront, resplendent in blue, red, purple or any number of other colors. Mathis would wear a cowboy hat and pointed-toed shoes.

The U.S. Army veteran, who served in Vietnam, would have his fingers bejeweled with golf ball-sized rings, and his belt buckle the size of a dinner plate.
