Arlington police have arrested a 21-year-old said to be the victim’s grandson.

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department is investigating an apparent shooting death that occurred Friday afternoon at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Carriage House Circle.

It is at that location where police were called at approximately 4:40 p.m. Friday. According to a release from Arlington PD, a family member found a 68-year-old woman lying unresponsive on her patio with a blanket covering her. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene by paramedics.

Police said an initial investigation discovered that 21-year-old Rontrell Jackson, described as the victim’s grandson, had recently gotten into an argument with the victim which led to the loss of Jackson’s allowance money. After being questioned, Jackson admitted to shooting the victim early that morning inside the apartment and then dragging her body to the patio, police said. A firearm believed to be used in the shooting was also discovered in the apartment.

Jackson was charged with one count of murder and taken into custody by Arlington police, who booked him into the Arlington City Jail. He is now in the Tarrant County Jail being held with no bond.
