ARLINGTON, Texas — The Arlington Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a 68-year-old woman found unresponsive on her apartment patio.

On March 20, 2026, at approximately 4:40 p.m., officers responded to an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Carriage House Circle, where a family member discovered the woman covered with a blanket, according to a press release from the Arlington Police Department. Paramedics determined she had been shot and pronounced her deceased at the scene.

Detectives learned that the woman and her grandson, 21-year-old Rontrell Jackson, had recently argued, leading to the loss of Jackson’s allowance money. During questioning, Jackson admitted to shooting the victim early that morning inside the apartment and then dragging her body to the patio, stated the source.

An arrest warrant was obtained for Jackson on one count of murder. He was taken into custody and booked into the Arlington City Jail. A firearm believed to have been used in the shooting was recovered inside the apartment. The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the name of the deceased.
