San Antonio shopping center The Rim is home to a massive Bass Pro Shops location where you can buy everything from boats to hunting gear to everyday apparel. Soon, customers will also be able to partake in a barbecue experience as the store adds a new on-site restaurant.
A construction project for a new Hard Eight BBQ was filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Thursday, March 19. According to the project filing, the new addition will cost an estimated $5 million to construct, with work expected to run from April 2, 2026 to November 1, 2026.
Hard Eight BBQ has five locations that are mostly concentrated around the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. The restaurants are known for serving up Texas-style barbecue favorites, including brisket, sausage and pulled pork, with side of Southern hospitality. Hard Eight BBQ announced its location inside the Bass Pro Shops in an Instagram post from October 7, 2025.
Bass Pro Shops has seen a number of dining concepts in the past, including Paula Deen’s Family Kitchen, which only lasted about 15 months at the sporting goods superstore. Prior to that, a restaurant called Islamorada Fish Co. operated at the retailer. MySA reached out to San Antonio’s Bass Pro Shops location via email for any additional information, but we did not receive a response at the time of publishing.
